PortalGuard Release Notes: Newly Redesigned Admin Panel, FIDO2 Support, and Much More!

PortalGuard Release Notes is our quarterly update that outlines recent PortalGuard enhancements so you can easily stay up to date on what’s new and updated.  

The BIO-key team has worked hard over the last couple of months to upgrade the PortalGuard platform, with a focus on better usability, greater customization, and streamlined workflows.

Major Highlights: 

  • PortalGuard introduces a newly redesigned Admin Panel for IDaaS, featuring a modern and intuitive layout for configuring PortalGuard in the cloud.   • RADIUS support for PortalGuard now features FIDO2 (WebAuthn) to authenticate users via public key cryptography from a local device, such as a token or smartphone. 

 

PortalGuard Updates: 

  • SMS throttling and quarantine options are now available to prevent and limit SMS-based abuse and misuse. 
  • The Help Desk feature now has customizable search filters for global administrators, allowing for further flexibility and customization in complex environments. 
  • Dashboard reporting features more granular reporting information, providing both the login name and PortalGuard username for more detailed reporting information. 
  • For users of grouped Self-Service Password Reset, default OTP methods are determined by enrolled methods. 
  • Support for long Group DNs has been improved. 
  • Key fixes have been made for "Expire Password on First Login" and "Remember this device" settings. 
  • The PortalGuard Admin Guide has been updated with information for Azure AD and Hybrid joined devices. 

 

IDaaS Exclusive Improvements 

  • The new Attribute Mapping feature allows for flexibility and customization with Active Directory/LDAP synchronization. 
  • Improved support for synchronization with multi-domain environments. 
  • Various tooling and back-end improvements have been made for IDaaS transitions and migrations. 
  • Targeted announcements using geolocation conditions have received a fix. 

 

PortalGuard Desktop 

  • FIDO2 tokens can now be used for 2FA. 
  • SSO Concierge can be configured to use multi-factor authentication on a per-site basis for stronger authentication to access legacy or thick client applications. 
  • Improved WEB-key integration, including a new enrollment flow, integration with Windows 11, as well as "Thick Client" single sign-on integration. 

 

PortalGuard Trial Mode

  • Can be used to test drive PortalGuard Desktop with fingerprint-based authentication. 
  • Can enroll using fingerprint tile from the Windows login screen.
